Alpaca, a prominent US-based self-clearing broker-dealer and provider of brokerage infrastructure APIs, is advancing its global footprint with its planned acquisition of Zincmoney IFSC Private Limited. Announced recently, this strategic move grants Alpaca entry into India’s broker-dealer market through Zincmoney, a regulatory entity operating under the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) and based in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City).
A Strategic Leap into India’s Financial Market
The acquisition will enable Alpaca to leverage Zincmoney’s India-centric brokerage licenses and infrastructure, positioning the company to serve one of the fastest-growing financial markets in the world. Alpaca’s Co-Founder and CEO, Yoshi Yokokawa, emphasized the importance of this development, stating, "The acquisition of Zincmoney is critical to building truly global brokerage infrastructure. Zincmoney has established itself in GIFT City by working closely with Indian financial institutions and fintechs. With their team and licenses joining Alpaca, we are excited to serve the Indian market as a regulated broker-dealer while supporting partners who need compliant access to US securities and other investing solutions."
Zincmoney brings a comprehensive suite of capabilities across Indian and global investment products. These include international securities, products listed in GIFT City’s IFSC, and solutions tailored for overseas education and restricted stock unit (RSU) management. The addition of these offerings will complement Alpaca’s multi-asset brokerage platform, which currently provides partners with tools to embed trading, custody, and wealth products via modern APIs.

Following regulatory approval, Kini will transition to serve as CEO of Alpaca India.

The collaboration bridges Alpaca’s global infrastructure with Zincmoney's deep understanding of India’s distribution and compliance frameworks.
Broadening Alpaca’s Global Brokerage Infrastructure

This acquisition aligns with Alpaca’s broader mission to provide a full-stack global brokerage infrastructure. By enabling brokers, banks, and fintechs to launch investment and wealth products efficiently and compliantly, the company aims to expand the accessibility of modern financial services worldwide.
Completion of this transaction is subject to regulatory approvals from the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA). Once finalized, Alpaca will integrate Zincmoney’s payment service provider (PSP) capabilities to facilitate seamless customer payments and transfers across India.
