Residents, businesses, and nonprofit organizations in Carter County, Missouri, impacted by severe weather earlier this year will soon have access to vital assistance. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced the opening of a Loan Outreach Center in Van Buren, set to begin operations on November 3.
The center is being established to support those affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding that took place from March 30 through April 8. At the facility, representatives will assist with disaster loan applications and answer questions for eligible individuals and organizations.
The Carter County Loan Outreach Center will be located at the Carter County Courthouse, 1122 Main Street, Van Buren. Doors will open at 11 a.m. on its inaugural day. Following that, the center will operate Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
An additional Loan Outreach Center is already operational in Cape Girardeau County at the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce, 1846 East Jackson Boulevard. This location is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
According to the SBA, "Representatives will be on hand at the center to answer questions and help with the disaster loan application process." Walk-ins are welcome, but those seeking assistance can also schedule appointments online.
The SBA's Economic Injury Disaster Loan program filing deadlines are also approaching. Applications for physical property damage must be submitted by December 22, 2025, while the deadline for economic injury applications is July 22, 2026.
For businesses and nonprofits still recovering from the impact of this disaster, the SBA's Loan Outreach Centers aim to provide much-needed resources during this critical time.
